As some of you heard the other night, there is an upcoming coding release that I need tested before we put it into play. So, rather than rely on a few testers, I'm going to open up the BetaMUD in DeathMatch mode for a few days.

Bear in mind though that the game can crash, I am not going to spend alot of time setting up free equipment mobs and handing out 500 herons, etc. I may ask individuals to test a specific item as play progresses, may put a coding breakpoint in so that I can walk through what's happening in the code (in other words, long freezes), etc.

So that you know what we are testing:

  • Stab/Charge
Have been reverted to their previous coding, no more 'they are in the throes of battle.'
After a few days testing, and much complaining, this has been put back into play. No more flee-stab/flee-charge.
  • Notice/Hide
Is being tweaked again, I realize the last change was not for the best, we're trying something a little different.
  • Blight Heat
The damage levels and frequency have been reduced a bit. Frequency has been readjusted
  • Compel
Failure rates have been adjusted.
  • Ambush
No, it hasn't been removed. Damage has been lowered, time to set has been increased and sneak now has a chance of not being ambush.
  • Warder/Fade attack
Has been reverted to the original setup.
  • Master Retool
Has been added via code to the Master Blacksmiths, type 'list' or 'help' at the blacksmith for the appropriate syntax. In play for several days and only one person reports that it didn't work past a single word...
  • Fireworks
Rather than adding mobol'd fixes for each city, code has been added to allow fireworks to be used in the city zones without the 'hurricane' effect.
  • Warder Fixes
When the warder auto-rescues his Sedai, the Sedai should no longer be disengaged. Also, the Warder should no longer auto-rescue and eat a backstab or charge.
  • a cup of thick syrup
Should now give a lasting 3 tic effect same as cure blind, etc.

There are some other changes as well, just not pertinent for all to know.

BetaMUD is now up and available via port 2223 on the wotmud.org server.
