The shadow knight is a humanoid smob loading in a tomb off the Caemlyn-Tar Valon Road.
Description
"The shadow knight stands here, its eyes aflame with hatred.
The horrid remains of what once was a mighty lord stand before you. Its clothes are that of a noble, with the tattered remnants of a black cloak swept about its shape. Where neither clothes nor the rusted remains of armor cover, a nearly opaque darkness is all that can be seen. Its full helmet reveals little of what lies behind, apart from a pair of eyes, flaming red with the hatred of all living creatures."

Strategies
The tomb entrance is a hidden "slab" door. Within the tomb, behind a "stonedoor" is the anteroom, which contains two apparitions. Behind the "tombdoor" is an altar and a coffin. To bring forth the knight, find a strange black candle in a locked sarcophagus in a tomb in the Black Hills, and put it on the altar. This will unlock the coffin, and the knight will appear.
Every few rounds, the knight will permanently douse any lights in the room, except light ball (and by some accounts, other strange black candles). Lightsticks are also affected by this, and their remaining time will be severely reduced or eliminated when this happens.
The room is hideable, and weaves can be used against the smob, but he is immune to ice spikes and contagion. A successful melee brute force attack relies upon consistent bashing because the shadow knight will "fade into the shadows" and when he returns his health is completely restored. This is similar to the gholam's regeneration though slightly more forgiving towards the group.
